Palin Goes Global

A Little Jaunt?

Using her medium of choice, Facebook, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin (R-AK) announced Monday June 15th that she has received an invitation to visit London in her attempt to connect with prominent global conservatives. Although never explaining who has extended said invitation she has elaborated on one of the possible stops, a face to face meeting with the "Iron Lady" herself, former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.

The "Iron Lady" and the Rogue

Two political heavy weights converging into one room; the conservative universe has suddenly collided. Thatcher represents global conservative thought (often times more liberal than its American Counterpart) while Sarah Palin brings the Tea Party/ Common sense conservative agenda with her. If this meetings does indeed happen, what I would give to be a fly on the wall to hear what these two great women would talk about.

Sarah Palin talks about Thatcher in her Facebook post, describing her as one of her political heroines and indeed as one of her role models. Even though they have never met before I can't help but feel like this may be something like the student returning to the teacher, because Margaret Thatcher set the bar and Palin is trying to take it one step further. Even though the trip hasn't even been scheduled yet, I can already feel the ripples in the political cosmos as these two paths begin to converge. It's like the the unstoppable force is joining forces with the unmovable object. I love it.

Later,
